As 2025 draws to a close, we at the African Health Catalyst Forum (AHCF) are reflecting on a year defined by a single, powerful mandate: to organize, not agonize, about the disruptions to the global health sector and the implications for Africa.

What began as a vision to create a collaborative "oasis" for African-led health solutions has matured into a trusted platform for continental transformation. Our inaugural year was marked by a commitment to shifting from dialogue to documented action.

Building Our Digital Home

We believe that for African solutions to lead, they must be accessible and archived. This year, we established our foundational digital infrastructure to house our growing body of knowledge:

• April: Launched the Official AHCF Website.

• May: Opened the AHCF YouTube Channel, creating a permanent repository for our technical dialogues.

Seizing the Moment: Africa's Roadmap to Self-reliant Healthcare

The heartbeat of our year was the virtual roundtable series, "Seizing the . Hosted in strategic partnership with the Africa CDC, these roundtables provided a crucible for forging the future. We convened leading minds to honestly confront challenges and transform crisis into a catalyst for action:

• May 28: Roundtable 1 Opening Dialogue – A World of Opportunities, The Case for Reimagining Health.

• June 25: Roundtable 2 More Health for the Money – Achieving Efficiency and Impact.

• July 30: Roundtable 3 More Money for Health – Mobilizing Sustainable Financing.

• August 27: Roundtable 4 Closing Reflections – Governance, Leadership, and the Path Ahead.

The Durban Milestone: CPHIA 2025

The momentum of our virtual series culminated on Friday, October 24th, in Durban, South Africa. In partnership with Africa CDC, we hosted a high-impact side event: "Harnessing the African Diaspora and Private Sector for Health Innovation and Financing."

This event represented a critical pivot toward implementation. It resulted in a landmark commitment to establish an Inclusive Working Group, led by the Africa CDC and supported by AHCF. This group will involve a broad range of stakeholders from government, academia, the private sector, and the African Diaspora to design new platform architectures for harnessing the private sector and diaspora for health innovations and financing.

As we transition from architecture to action, our immediate priority for early 2026 is advancing the work of the Inclusive Working Group. Additionally, we are excited to announce a dedicated Roundtable Series focused specifically on harnessing the power of the private sector and the African Diaspora. Other strategic initiatives will follow as we expand our focus in the new year.
